Gifts

I do already know what Taylor has gotten me for our anniversary. He decided earlier last week that he just wanted to be able to go ahead and tell me since it would be a hard surprise to pull off. We are finally getting our new furniture for the living room! I cannot wait for him to go pick it up after we are home from the beach. This just means that it will finally be time to finish decorating our living room with new drapes and colors that we are actually happy about.

Our furniture right now is a lovely plaid... picture college apartments and what the furniture in them looks like. Well that is what is in our room right now. My parents bought it back when I was in junior high and followed my dad on into his "bachelor" pad. After he got re-married, it went into storage until Taylor and I were ready for it. Needless to say, we have been patiently waiting on this day and I can't wait for it to be here. Stay tuned for a picture to come after it's delivered!

You may also be wondering what I got my husband for our first anniversary. Well here's the story on how this came to be. A couple of weeks ago, Taylor left while I was at work to fly to California for the weekend. He waited until later on that night after I had gotten home from work to tell me what caused him to be running late leaving town earlier that day. He had gotten all of his things off of the nightstand and brought them into the living room and sat them on the sofa until he was ready for it. Next thing he knows, he cannot find his wedding band anywhere. He searched everywhere that he could think of before finally having to just leave without it in order to not miss his flight. I spent the rest of the weekend and into the week looking all over the house for the missing ring. I moved every piece of furniture, removed everything from their drawers in the bedroom and closet and looked in every place that I could think of. No ring. Taylor looked once he got home and he had the same luck. We have finally come to the decision that Miley must have eaten the ring. We even tried to find it outside in everything that she left behind. Still no ring. So tomorrow around lunch, his gift should be arriving in the mail. A brand new wedding band. He does have a few more surprises in store for the weekend but I'll be excited to have a ring back on his finger.

Now... if I could just figure out what I'll be getting for my birthday on the 12th.

Full Speed

We returned home from our weekend in Monroeville rested and ready for the week ahead to fly by.

Taylor is working at Frazer this week preparing for the Easter program this coming weekend. And I am spending my days at work trying to accomplish twice as much as I always do every day (which means TWICE the paper work and TWICE the phone calls with the normal patients coming in and out of the office all week) in order to prepare for next week.

We are celebrating our one year anniversary this coming Sunday (April 5). While Taylor will be working for the majority of the day, I'm just glad that he will actually be in town for it. Originally he was suppose to be in California and Las Vegas but thankful got a few things rearranged and will be just a few miles down the road.

Then next week, our long awaited trip to the beach.... I cannot wait!!

"home"

It has been a crazy week at our house which calls for a weekend
getaway to my parents house in Monroeville. We loaded up after I got
off work on Friday and headed '"home" in time to sit down for some of
Mom's cooking.

We watched tv and caught up about the interesting things that have
happened this week and decided to go to sleep early. It stormed until
about 4am this morning.

We slept in and and woke up to a homemade breakfast. Turning out to be
a beautiful day. Perfect day for a trip to Atmore to the new casino!

Lazy Sunday

A lot was accomplished yesterday so today will be some what of a lazy day. Taylor is home, sleeping. He'll probably be in bed for most of the day. But lunch is in the oven and should be ready in about an hour so maybe I can get him up to eat a little bit. He'll be visiting the doctor first thing in the morning.

I did check a few things off of my list yesterday and added a few more things as the day went on:
  • I washed ALL the dirty clothes
  • I cleaned out our closet
  • I took Miley on a LONG walk
  • I prepared lunch for today
  • I realized that something was all over the bottom of the oven (from my husband cooking a pizza directly on the rack last week). So I cleaned the oven last night in order to avoid filling the house with smoke while trying to cook lunch today.
  • I ironed and finally put the bed skirt that I've had since last summer on our bed.
  • I found an old dress in my closet that had never been worn (because the material was a little too thin to wear as a dress). So I decided to get the sewing machine out and hem the dress into a shirt. I love the way that it turned out!
  • I found a new futon cover on sale at Target for $20 yesterday. So I brought it home and finally changed the ugly green cover that's been on it since Taylor's bachelor days.
I would say that I got a lot done. The only things that I plan of doing today are running the vacuum cleaner and dusting the house. Other than that, I believe that I'll be sitting outside enjoying this weather and taking care of my sick husband.

I love the weekends where I am able to stay home and get so much done. I am just not ready for Monday to get here yet.

Productive Saturday

If today was the perfect day... I would:
  • cut the grass
  • wash ALL the dirty clothes
  • clean out our closet
  • LONG afternoon nap
  • take Miley for a LONG walk
  • Prepare lunch for tomorrow
  • Bake cupcakes (just because I want them)
  • patiently wait on Taylor to arrive home from Southern California
This is what I would like to accomplish today. Although I already know that one thing will not be able to happen because Taylor will have to be the one to cut the grass. I cannot even walk into the storage room because there is so much stuff. He's fighting an awful sinus infection that flying across the country does not help.. so maybe tomorrow afternoon he'll at least get the lawnmower out of there for me to do it.

The laundry is not horrible but there are a few loads plus some pieces that have to be washed separately. This task will be accomplished. There are a few things in our closet that I have been holding on to for some reason and need to go ahead and get off out the way. Spring cleaning will probably be happening around here big time in the next few weeks.

I've decided that I want to re-do a few of the accessories in our living room on the shelves and pick up a few things for our bedroom and a little organizing in the office. I went bargain hunting yesterday and spent a total of $6 and got just what I wanted for our bedroom and a few things for the living room. I'll make sure to get a few pictures when everything is in it's place.

So we'll see how productive my Saturday actually is... but I sure am hoping for the best!

sickly

That is the only word to describe the two of us this week. I woke up Saturday morning not feeling good at all.. continued on to Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Two sicks days off work and a $30 co-pay to my primary care doctor... I was diagnosed with a stomach virus. Awesome.

I thankful returned to work today with a desk piled high with a thousand things to do and over 100 phone calls to make today (literally). I'm not 100% back to normal but my fever finally broke during the night on Tuesday so I was feeling well enough to wake up at 7:15 this morning, shower and put on my scrubs without too much effort of "getting ready" before arriving at work before 8:00.

Taylor got home on Monday to find me sleeping and trying to deal with the sickness. He's fighting a pretty nasty cold himself so we both napped, ate soup and were sound asleep by 8:30 on Monday night. He's not getting a whole lot better but there is no time for him to go to the doctor (so he says). He has been busy working at Frazer on a few things this week before leaving town tomorrow to fly to California for a Switchfoot show. I sure hope the weather on the west coast with help him feel better, with the help of In-N-Out Burger.

Hope that the cleaning that's been done around the house tonight will help kill most of these germs!

Quick Visit

Like I've said before, my sister and brother-in-law are currently
living in Charlotte, NC while he is attending semenary at RTS. We had
not seen them since Christmas until they decided to make a quick trip
home this weekend. Taylor is on tour out of town until tomorrow
morning so he wasn't able to see them. But they arrived in time for
dinner on Friday night. Reid was preaching at their old church in Troy
this morning so I made the trip to hear him. They will be in Alabama
until Wednesday but I will not be able to see them again because of
work. It was a fun surprise visit but I'm exhausted. I will be making
a trip to see them in Charlotte the first weekend in May.

Finally Friday

It's been a crazy week around our house and looks like it might be a crazy weekend as well. I was hoping for lazy, but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Last night after work, Taylor and I decided it was time for a dinner date before he had to leave town. We met the tour bus around 10:30pm and I dropped him off for a weekend of touring. My sister and brother-in-law decided last night that they were coming in town for the weekend from Charlotte, NC. So looks like I'm going to have company while Taylor is out of town. Which also means that my mom and step dad are coming into town too. I'm excited.. it just means that I am going to have to get the house clean right after work this afternoon. Also, I think that I'll being going to a flea market or two around town tomorrow.

Now, is it 4:30 yet?

My "Happy"

Last week at work was a little hard and really stressful. But it was a time when I was truly thankful that I have a 8-5 job where I can leave and not think about any of it until the next day. So this is something that I was so excited and surprised to have in my mailbox on Monday afternoon after work. What a great start to my week. Taylor is home until Thursday and I just haven't been able to bring myself to sit down and write anything after work. So first thing this morning, I wanted to share my new little flag. Have you noticed that I love Easter?

Again

Right now, Taylor is on his way to Nashville to program and get ready for another tour to start this weekend. He'll be back on Monday so I tried not to be sad about him leaving for a few days. It looks like he'll be traveling on and off again until May before we get another good break for him being home for a month or so. We are looking forward to our "week" away coming soon when he has some work in Panama City Beach, FL right after our anniversary and the week of my birthday.

Until then, it looks to be a long week at work with one of the front desk girls taking off the rest of the week to get her wisdom teeth out tomorrow and to recover the rest of the week and weekend. So I'll be super busy at work for the rest of the week... doing a little filling in for her, plus my every day duties. Then coming home and resting, resting and resting some more.

Snow on March 1st

I woke up early this morning and peeked outside our bedroom window to see snow covering our backyard. I tried to wake Taylor up but 6:30 am was a little early and he wasn't getting out of bed. I decided to stay in bed until about 7:00 am and then knew that I couldn't stand it any longer. I got up and opened the front door so that the glass door was still closed, and watched the snow come down. I woke Miley up too and she stood at the door watching it come down.

I decided to put her on her leash and take her out in the front yard since the backyard was still so wet from yesterday's thunderstorms. She tried to eat the snowflakes and actually starting barking at them a few times.

We came back inside to get warmed up and wait on Taylor to wake up. It was a fun morning.. and a complete surprise. I had no clue that it was ACTUALLY going to snow.. and especially as much as it did. There is no snow left on the ground but I'm glad that I was able to get a few pictures.

More Decor

As much as I loved my Easter Tree that I posted about a few days ago... I think I might love this new wreath more. I have a lunch break on my long Fridays at work (when I work until 4:30 pm instead of getting off at 12:00 pm) and I decided to go to TJ Maxx and look around for a little bit. I walked directly to the Home department to see what the Easter section looked like. I saw a few wreaths here and there but nothing that I loved. I looked around for a little while longer and then saw this box sitting upside down in the furniture section. I picked it up and saw this perfect wreath that I knew I had to have. I love it. And it was marked on sale for some odd reason. It was regular $19.99 and I got it on sale for $11.99. I could not wait to get it home and hanging on the front door.. so here it is.

Happy Easter!
