new hair

i need a change. at the age of 24, i have more gray hair than i would like to admit. but it was definitely time to do something about it. you may not know it, but i highlighted my hair for over 5 years until all of a sudden, i wanted to go back to my natural color. well since my natural color is wanting to change on me, it's time to get a few highlights again along with a new haircut.

i'll let you know how it turns out!

Doggie Daycare

I just dropped Miley off for her first experience of being boarded for the weekend. I'm driving to Monroeville to meet my parents for a weekend at Sandestin so we decided Miley needed a resort style weekend too. She was going to stay with Jack in Monroeville until he decided to go to the beach too. So she's staying at Taylor Crossing here in Montgomery until Monday afternoon when I leave work. She will be in a private suite with a TV, bed and a window to see outside. She will taken out several times during the day to play in the daycare area with the other dogs. She will also have access to this:

It's hard to tell from this picture but it's a heated dog bone shaped swimming pool. Miley loves the water more than anything. Looks like they will probably have a hard time keeping her out of there. It is comforting to know that she's going to be personally loved on all weekend while I'm gone! When I pick her up on Monday afternoon, she will have just had a bath, too!

our home "office"

The word office in our house means storage room, tool box, and everything in between. The closet is filled with shelves that hold a lot of Taylor's work things. The coffee table that used to be in our living room is in the middle of the floor. Taylor's kayak is standing up against the wall. There is a futon for extra guests that has only been used one in almost two years (although I did purchase a new cover for it a few months ago). Our desk is the one that I used in college with the bookshelf hutch my dad built specifically for my dorm room at Auburn. The curtains were just something that I had from the past couple of years that I hung up there to block out the sun. Needless to say, there is such a wide variety of things in there that is truly our catch all room. I was looking for some paper work on Friday night and just finally had enough of it. Taylor is really good about going through things about once a month and straightening up the room. But I had finally had enough.

Saturday morning I woke up and went straight in there. Started going through papers, shredding things that needed to be thrown away and then just getting things organized. I got all of our papers filed away in the correct place. I did leave some things for Taylor to look through when he gets home but for the most part, I got it organized. It's still got a long way to go but I am so much happier about it. I don't mind leaving the door open anymore.

The one thing that I knew I wanted to get done though was new curtains. New curtains that actually match the room and would help block the sunlight that beams in during the day. There was a huge one day sale going on at Hancock's so I headed over there around 2:00 to see what all was still there. I found this fabric and knew that it would be perfect. And at a total of $12.00 for the 3 yards I needed, I was not going to turn it down. Our futon and desk with hutch are both black. Taylor also has a framed picture from a Switchfoot show and his framed things from the summer he worked for DMB, which are all in black frames.



I had leftover black-out fabric to line the drapes. All I needed was a curtain rod and hooks. For $10.00 at Walmart, I found just what I wanted. So I spent the rest of the afternoon sewing. The whole project cost me $22.00 and I am very pleased. There was enough fabric left over to make two pillows for the futon.

So this was my Saturday. I'm just resting up for next weekend in Sandestin with my parents!

early celebration

Taylor left yesterday morning for tour. He'll be gone for 25 days. In the middle of those weeks, he will be celebrating his 25 birthday. Needless to say, I have been so upset that I am not going to be able to see him on his special day. We did take advantage of his last few days at home and celebrated.

Tuesday night we went to dinner at one of his favorite places, Lek's. I made his favorite dessert for after dinner.. strawberry pretzel salad. It's one of the first things that my mom made when we started dating and quickly became one of his favorite things. A little bit of a pain to make.. but so worth it.

Wednesday after work, we drove to Greenville to meet my parents for dinner. They haven't seen Taylor in a couple of months and wanted to make sure that they were able to before he left on Thursday. We ate at this new restaurant that they had heard about from some friends. We loved the food but the company was great. We stayed there for 3 hours before finally getting up from the table.



I loved every minute of getting to celebrate his birthday early and spending as much time together as possible before he left town. These next weeks are going to be hard but it'll all be worth it once he gets come home again for a few days!

Legally Blonde

We got up and headed to Atlantic Station this morning to do a little shopping. I spent a majority of my time in H&M before we headed to Bonehead's for lunch. If there would have been more time, I was trying to drag Mom and Jack to Ikea. They've never experienced it but we were running short on time before getting back to The Fox.

Last summer, I started watching Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods and fell in love with the musical. I wanted to see it on Broadway... but of course before we were able to make it there, it closed. But thankful it was still going to go on tour. My sister and brother-in-law went to see it while the tour was in Charlotte and absolutely loved it. I knew that Taylor wasn't going to be able to make it to Atlanta to see the musical with me but Mom and Jack couldn't be more excited about a little Atlanta getaway weekend. Lindsay went a few weeks ago in Nashville and made me THAT much more excited about getting to see it at The Fox. We got there in plenty of time for me to get a souvenir magnet for our refrigerator and get settled in our seats.

This was my third time to see something in the theatre at The Fox. It's such an incredible experience all together.

The play was just as wonderful as I knew that it would be. I had a smile on my face the whole time. I am so thankful for the chance to go and for my parents for taking weekend to spend with me in Atlanta!

Braves vs Mets

My long awaited weekend trip to Atlanta is finally here. My mom, Jack and I have had this trip planned for months. I got off work at 12:00 today so we hit the road as soon as they got to Montgomery and we were in Atlanta a little after 5:00 but we completely missed traffic. We were in Midtown and checked in our hotel by 6:00. We are staying at Hotel Indigo. We had heard about it from a few other people and were so pleased with our room. A cozy, cottage-like room in the middle of Midtown, directly across the street from The Fox. I love it!

We quickly got ready and headed out the door to catch Marta to Turner Field. We were there in no time and so excited about the game and our seats.

We sat in the All You Can Eats seats in the outfield. All the hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, nachos, peanuts, Cokes, water and ice cream that we wanted. The food was great but the seats were amazing. It was so much fun and a great experience. We'll definitely be getting these seats again.

The Braves retired Greg Maddux's number at the beginning of the game and he and his son threw out the first pitch.

The Braves won 11-0 so it was a great game. We skipped out right before the fireworks started and watched them from outside the stadium. We headed back on Marta with all the other Braves fans. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. More than I can explain.

4th of July

We spent our weekend of the 4th with family and friends. Last year, we were in Charlotte with my sister, Reid, mom and dad. But this year we decided to stay put in Montgomery for the weekend. We went swimming with Amber & Price early that morning, stopped at the fireworks stand on the way home then starting cooking our early dinner. Our friends Hayden and Kathryn came over for dinner and homemade ice cream. We went downtown to the Biscuits game that night to watch the game and the fireworks. Nothing too much or too busy. Just enough time to enjoy each other and our company. This was also Taylor's last weekend home until the middle of September. So I wanted to make sure that I was able to soak it all in.
